Osman, the eponymous label from British born designer Osman Yousefzada, made its debut in 2008 at London Fashion Week. Osmans unique architectural elegant aesthetic and strong, sculptural designs both flatter and celebrate the womans body, qualities which have established the designer as one of Londons most exciting talents. Osman immersed into the fashion world from a young age, growing up in his mother’s couture dressmaking business, and then went onto study at Central St Martins.
Made his debut in 2008, Osman has expanded his fan base
2008 saw the London-based OSMAN nominated for the annual Designs of the Year award at the Design Museum. In the same year, OSMAN was awarded the prestigious BFC NEWGEN award, sponsored by TOPSHOP for three consecutive seasons. Shortlisted for the BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund in 2011, 2013, 2015 and most recently shortlisted for a Frieze Art Award. As Londons one of most celebrated talents, OSMAN produces an annual collaborative journal, The Collective a cross-disciplinary publication in which drawing on his own circle of fellow artists, writers and other creatives. His collections are distributed internationally, across prestigious retail establishments, and his designs are sought after by Vogue celebrities including Emma Watson, Beyonce, Anne Hathaway, Gwen Stefani, and Jessica Alba.
The elegant aesthetics that celebrate the woman’s femininity
In Yousefzadas catwalk, he shows clean modern silhouettes and exceptionally precise tailorings that make an integral part of his collections. Elegant, timeless designs has won OSMAN a devoted fan base. His design signatures include innovative cuttings and bold use of colors, often abstract prints drawn from his personal interest in art and ethnicity. In his Spring 2017, with friends and collaborators support, OSMAN casted models off-the-street in an effort to portray the real images of women wearing his everyday silhouettes. In the collection, we see cotton tops, denim jackets and of course some standout styles such the dresses and tailored jackets. A style to covet and to love would be his signature tailoring, the Flouncer layered trousers.
